How does a litany of even more preposterous scenarios discredit a theory of motivation?

I don't have to discredit a theory of motivation, particularly this theory of motivation, since I've not seen anything but chants and slogans to prove it in the first place.

There is nothing that would satisfy a test of "proof" for a theory of motivation. I will agree, though, that those in the left that assert the Iraq war was driven (whether wholly or partially, directly or indirectly) by the US dependance on oil imports have done a terrible job of presenting their case. It's one of those issues where your own position seems, well, obvious... given your own preconceptions and the evidence you've been privy too.

The current climate seems to engender stalemates, where everyone is convinced that those who differ have ignored the facts, or are simply delusional. Mockery doesn't help any more than the chants and slogans :-P
